Great Sword is a type of weapon in Monster Hunter: World.
Summary[]
The Great Sword is a very heavy and very slow weapon. The Great Sword is a weapon used for short bursts of high damage, to the point that the Great Sword is known for being able to do the highest amount of damage in the entire game. The weapon has three main attacks - the side swipe, the upswing, and the down strike. These three attacks are extremely damaging, and if the enemy is hit with the middle of the blade, this damage is given a bonus level of attack. One of the main features of the Great Sword is its ability to charge its attacks to deal more damage.
Combat[]
The Great Sword in known for its high damage and slow movement. The Great Sword's main attack is its down strike. This move can be done by pressing the primary attack button (Y on Xbox) with your weapon drawn (Note: if you hold the primary attack button, you character will begin to charge the attack of the Great Sword. Periodically while charging, your character will flash, thus notifying the player that the charge of the attack has gone up a level. As stated before, charging an attack will cause said attack to deal more damage. Releasing the primary attack button will see your character go into the down strike animation.)
